Hi. Caylene Vincent here. I'm happy to see you’re interested in who and what’s behind the products and services offered by 'Happy Wife Happy Life'.
I’m the founder of HappyWifeHappyLife and have worked for more than 20 years in the areas of Human Resources and Health and Safety, in Australia. For the past 15 years I’ve concentrated on Health and Safety, both in Manufacturing and in Construction – but mainly in Construction.
Over this time, what I’ve seen on Construction Sites has resulted in me changing my belief about the causes of accidents at hazardous work environments like these. When I first started, I thought it was all about the systems and processes and, believe me, I’ve seen some pretty bad (non-existent) ones.
But over time, as the principals in the industry have gotten their act together, there is still an unusually high number of accidents, when compared to most other industries.
So, I asked myself ‘Why?’.
Being a woman on a construction site – and one who the workers consider to be reasonably high in the pecking order (because I’m a professional contractor brought in by Management), I find that the guys on site often talk to me about things, I suspect, they don’t even talk to their mates about.
Many of these conversations led me to the conclusion that a safe workplace is not just about the systems – it’s everything else that the guys bring from their private lives. This might be the argument they had with the wife that morning, the kids not doing well at school, money issues, a disagreement they’re having with their neighbour..... all types of things.
So, when we can help these guys learn how to have stronger relationship foundation at home, we’ll be well along the way to dramatically decreasing the incidence of death, depression and divorce in the Construction Industry.
My husband, who is a business coach, tells me that “To achieve a goal it must be specific!”.
So, I’ve set myself a specific, and I believe realistic, goal of providing people with the right tools, and influencing others, so that together we can....
“Reduce death, depression, and divorce, in the Construction Industry, by 15% over the next 5 years (2021)”
I welcome anyone else, with a similar belief and passion, to join me in this mission.
